Neil Mcenery-West is an independent film director. He has made numerous shorts on 16mm and digital. He has also directed documentaries for TV and several live studio events.

Neil’s films deal with several recurrent themes. The psychological effect of fear, loss, and isolation under extreme circumstances.

Neil is currently in development on a thriller, Alpha. The film is beingĀ  produced through Patchwork Productions. Neil’s previous work included the award winning Undertow, and a number of short films shot on 16mm, Digi-Beta, 8mm and digital.

Neil’s stylistic influences range from the innovative genre storytelling of filmmakers such as Stanley Kubrick and David Fincher, to the psychological horror of directors such as David Lynch and David Cronenberg.

Inspiration for Neil’s stories come from a range of sources. The creative and disjointed realities of J G Ballard, the ongoing conflict of philosophical enquiry into ethics and identity, and the psychology of extreme scenarious. The way that stress and trauma reveals discrepancies of character. The difficult and repressed elements of the psyche that lie just beneath the surface.
