Alpha is Neil’s debut feature film. The story focuses on a building of residents who are mysteriously sealed inside their apartments, and the fear that builds as it becomes clear that the situation is far worse than they originally think.

The film explores the conflict that erupts when people react differently to fear. Residents fight to survive and uncover the reason behind their mysterious imprisonment. Some act selflessly, others in their own self interest. What are the ethics of survival in the absence of authority?

The script is close to completion and work is currently underway assembling a crew. Alpha is produced by Christine Hartland. Her debut feature film, WMD, was nominated for best picture at the East End Film Festival and received excellent reviews including in Time Out.

Kate Leys is Alpha’s script editor. She is one of the most respected script editors in the UK film industry. A former head of development at Film Four, she was part of a small team involved in the commission of films including Trainspotting, Four Weddings and a Funeral, and The Full Monty.

David Lemon is Alpha’s scriptwriter. His UKFC funded debut feature film starred Eddie Marsden and Ewen Bremner. It closed the 2008 Edinburgh film festival. David’s episode of ‘The Man in Black’ with Mark Gatiss has just aired on the BBC.

Alpha’s cinematographer is Sara Deane. She has recently shot feature film Verity’s Summer, directed by Palme D’Or nominee Ben Crowe.
