March 2009   Final Award Nomination and Thanks

A late announcement of Undertow's 'Best International Short' nomination at the Queens International Film Festival in New York. Undertow was one of only three shortlisted films for this coveted prize from a number of worldwide entries.

Undertow has completed its festival run now following an amazing year in which the cast and crew were able to promote and premiere the film around the world. Thankyou to everyone who came and supported the film over the year.

On a personal note I want to say that the three 'International Best Short Film' nominations Undertow received were a wonderful recognition of all the hard work that the cast and crew put in to the film.In addition, the New York 'Best Actor' award Matthew Jure received for the lead role was a justified appreciation of a great performance and his enduring passion for the film, and the New York 'Best International Director' award I received was both humbling and deeply gratifying.

Undertow is part of the official selection for two new film festivals. First up is Bootleg Film Festival where Undertow will be screened in Glasgow on Sep 12th.Following this we have Filmstock International Film Festival taking place in Luton during November (screening dates TBC). For Filmstock we are one of three films in a special Category called the 'Long Triple Short'. Unlike the other films in the festival, the LTS films are privileged to be screened three times over the course of the festival. Both festivals look set to be excellent, although it looks sadly unlikely that we will be able to attend Bootleg in person, we will be in attendance at Filmstock for at least one or more of the screenings so please come and join us if you can!
